Enniskillen motor club's Northern Ireland Auto-test championship round, saw 19 competitors attend what many class as the best round of the championship. With the entry including British Champion Paul Swift it was set to be a fantastic day's action. The Weather sunny & warm at St Angelo Airport, except for hail shower halfway through, and like the weather the lead was very changeable, after 3 tests, Stewartstown driver, Steven Ferguson led by 0.4 seconds from Eamon Byrne, with Paul Swift third. Ferguson collected a maximum on the fourth test, while Swift did likewise on the 7th, leaving Byrne with a comfortable lead that he held to the end.
In the classes Paul Blair proved too good for the other sports cars drivers, while Geoff Lamont managed to turn the tables on old Rival Norman Ferguson to take Class C. Class D saw a tooth and nail battle between old rivals and brothers-in-law, Raymond Donaldson and Eric Patterson come to a premature conclusion when Patterson broke a driveshaft on the penultimate test, giving reigning class champion Donaldson maximum points.
The tests proved challenging and at the end only Byrne and fellow Delgany driver, Simon Echlin were free of any line or pylon penalties. Enniskillen Motor Club would like to thank Ennikilen Airport Company and William West for the use of their facilities and to all who made the event possible.
